Avoid Rejection

In the book Power Networking, authors Donna Fisher and Sandy Vilas indicate that there is a new way to approach our networking interactions that eliminates rejection as an issue. They state, “Rejection is an issue only if your focus is on having someone respond in a particular way. If you are relaying information primarily as a way to mutually share resources, then any response you get will support the flow of the [networking] process.” Thus, if we approach people with the mindset that we are merely someone who is interested in sharing information with them, no rejection can result.
